Better quality laminators use 4 to 10 roller systems - the first set of rollers heat the pouch to melt the adhesive and subsequent rollers are designed to seal the document.
Cold Roll Feed Laminators
Cold Roll Feed Laminators are used to laminate film to mount prints to board, applying vinyl's and applying adhesive films. These are commonly used in—Copy and print shops, sign makers and commercial printers. Not all films need heat and vehicle wrap film and vinyl’s work better when laminated cold. Cold Lamination can sometime leave a ‘silvering’ effect which is caused by the glue on the film not being softened and not completely sticking to the troughs of the print. This is not normally a problem for Sign Makers, but Photographers and Exhibition Graphic Suppliers who may be more critical may require using a heat assist laminator which has heated top roller for a perfect finish. Cold Laminators use pressure sensitive over laminate films which come in 3 finishes – gloss, crystal matt and semi matt or lustre finish. These films are all available in 70 and 100 micron with a solvent based adhesive so are suitable for outdoor use. There is also a Sandtex finish available in 150 micron. Standard sizes available are 650mm, 880mm, 1040mm, 1300mm and 1520mm but we can cut down to non-standard sizes if required.
